The new WARN winches: Starting at $399 after rebate
Written: April 17, 2011
by Andy Lilienthal
We've got some big news to share: Our new line of winches start at $399 after an $80 mail-in rebate. Plus, many have new features for increased performance, reliability, and durability.

The all-new WARN VR Series includes the VR8000, VR10000, and VR12000 with 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 lb. capacities, respectively. All of these units feature series-wound motors for plenty of power; brakes that hold the full-rated load for great control while winching; three-stage planetary geartrains for speed, durability, and reliability; corded remote controls; and 94-feet of durable wire rope. All of these winches are backed by the WARN limited lifetime warranty, too. You can purchase a WARN VR8000 for $399 after the $80 mail-in rebate.

It's not just the VR that's newsworthy, though. Most winches in the WARN Premium Series, Ultimate Performance Series, and Heavyweight Series now feature contactor control for increased durability and reliability; redesigned control housings; and a new-and-improved remote control that is more durable, reliable, and easy-to-use than ever. Plus, the 12V winches in these series are also eligible for an $80 mail-in rebate, including the all-new WARN 9.5cti winch with thermometric technology.

With the new WARN winch lineup, our products are now more affordable, reliable, durable, and performance oriented.

Be sure to check out the entire line of WARN products and get full details on our $80 winch rebate at www.warn.com.

Good to hear that WARN is steeping into the budget winch market. I was gonna buy the M-8000(or a cheap $300ish rip-off) in a few weeks bet may have to give this new line a HARD look. How does it compare to the M-8000? Also how does it do with water? I KNOW you guys are #1 in winches, and I absolutely love your warranty program.

Thanks for the time,
Eric Lock

BTW:What stores/chains can I find one of these at?

Eric,

The M8000 has a different motor, geartrain, and will have contactor control (the VR Series has solenoids). The VR should fair the same as a winch, such as the M8000, or XD9000.

As far as where to buy, you've got several options: Local stores, online retailers, or through WARN.com. Here's a link for where to buy.

Where to buy (it's also at the top of the page).

Are these available to international markets? We have been waiting for news on these lower priced winches for some time, and they should have significant impact on this highly competitive Market. Just a shame that this significant news is on twitter prior to any information being sent to distributors! I expect I will get a lot of calls about the vr series at work tomorrow: luckily I now know all about them!

Does the VR lineup have the same mounting pattern as the M series? Can I use a bumper designed to mount M12000 for VR12000?

Do you make weather covers for the VR series? How does it do when submerged in water during say a stream or river crossing, are their any special cleaning requirements or lub changing that would be required.

Thanks

Bob Rodemeyer

I just bought a VR8000 and I'm having contact problems. The solenoid clicks but the drum does not engage. After moving wires around and thumping on the motor with my palm the drum will final engage. Is anyone else having these problems with the new line of warn winches?

Warn customer service is pretty amazing. I had a problem with my ATV winch and not only was I able to quickly connect with an english speaking human, but he gave me a direct email address to send photos to, personally walked them to an engineer and in no time resolved my problem. You don't see this kind of service any more. I hope my winch never dies but if I need a new one it will be a Warn.
