Introducing the latest WARN Jeep: "Big Red"
Written: April 18, 2011
by Andy Lilienthal
After several "teaser" posts, here it is: Big Red.

This Jeep JK started as a four-door Wrangler Unlimited. After receiving the WARN treatment, the highly-modified Jeep now features two doors, many custom-fabricated items, a host of WARN product, and parts from other industry-leading aftermarket companies. It all comes together to create a rig sure to be one of the biggest, baddest Jeeps on the trails this year.

Here is a rundown of Big Red's build:

  • Dodge 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine, five-speed automatic transmission, and custom exhaust system with Magnaflow muffler. Installation by Burnsville Off Road
  • WARN prototype electric winch (front); WARN 9.5xp winch (rear) mounted on custom front and rear winch bumpers
  • WARN VTC air compressor
  • WARN WXT400-HID lights (in bumper) and W400-HID lights (on top of bumper)
  • Raceline Competition Beadlock RT233 Monster wheels (17x10.5)
  • BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tires (40x14.5 R17/C)
  • Currie Enterprises front and rear RockJock axles (Dana Super 60); WARN locking hubs (front), full-float rear end with WARN drive flanges; custom driveline; 1350 U-joints
  • 5.38:1 ring and pinion; 2.72:1 transfer case
  • 6" lift kit
  • ARB Air Lockers front and rear
  • Nemesis Industries roll cage and other fabrication
  • Bestop custom soft top
  • MasterCraft seats

Are those 1/4 turn hubs? They are sweet, are they available for the old style 19 spline dana 44 outers?

Also love the winch, what are the specs?

Super mucho thanks to Jeff!!!! You are the MAN, we're still giddy from our ride in Big Red over to Potato Salad Hill last Sunday. Moab was a blast and hanging with the Warn team for a few was tops.

Thanks again for the ride in your killer rig. Just let us know when you're ready to part with it.

That is almost enough to make me want a JK. Curious though, what the rating on the prototype winch is. Seems to me like a person would just about need a 10k on the JK.

Rating on that winch is 20,000 lbs., which is admittedly an overkill. Most JKs are fine with a 9,500 lb.+ winch.
