WARN Olympus: The world's most powerful and efficient electric winches
Written: June 02, 2011
by Andy Lilienthal
It's no secret that Warn makes some powerful winches for all sorts of applications. However, our latest winches are above and beyond anything we've ever made.

Introducing the WARN Olympus 22 and WARN Olympus 25 with 22,000 lb. and 25,000 lb. capacities, respectively. Developed to meet the demanding standards of today's Industrial and Military customers, these winches are the most powerful DC-electric units in the world ... literally.

The Olympus series winches feature a compact permanent magnet Axial Flux motor for amazing power and duty cycle, which rivals hydraulic performance levels. Plus, it uses up to one-third less amp draw than comparable winches. If you see one in person, it's quite amazing how small the motor actually is.

One of the coolest features is its weight: It weighs 65% less than comparable hydraulic winches, which is better for vehicle fuel economy and payload. For further weight savings, the Olympus 25 is available with another industry first: industrial-grade synthetic rope. In fact, this 5/8"-diameter rope has a minimum breaking strength of 40,000 lbf.!

I'm not familiar with the weight on the Pierce 20,000 lb. winch. Keep in mind, this is not something you'd put on a Jeep.

Winchs are one of my favourite pieces of 4wding equipment so seeing the 25000 pounder is unreal. Would one of these fit on the front end of a Nissan GQ Patrol? Having one of these on the front of your rig would really be something else!

Cheers!

Although I'm sure you theoretically could mount one on a Patrol, from a cost and application standpoint, it makes more sense to go with a product such as our Endurance 12.0.

I would really like to get the specs on these two winches, as well as to know where I can buy one of these. I have a Ford F550 work truck and I would like to put one of these on my front bumper so that I can move something with it. Thanks!

Technically you could, however, it's really for industrial applications.

Stef, you'd want to call Customer Service at 800-543-9276 and talk with them about this application.
