Warn Industries releases new XT17 Portable Winch
Lightweight and portable; ideal for adventure-touring motorcycles and quads
Clackamas, OR (7/11/11) - Warn Industries is excited to announce the arrival of a new portable winch
designed to go places no other winches have gone ... such as on a motorcycle! Introducing the WARN XT17 Portable Winch,
part of the WARN Extreme Terrain series of Powersports winches.
At first, the idea of a winch on a motorcycle may sound unusual. But those who have gotten stuck on a muddy trail, waded
through deep water, or tried to coax a two wheeler up a steep section know how difficult it can be. To assist in your
motorcycle adventures (as well as quads, snowmobiles, or other lightweight vehicles), Warn Industries developed the
XT17 Portable winch. The XT17 Portable isn't limited to recovery; it's a navigational tool as well. Rather than turn back
due to a washout, swollen creek, or log that normally stops a big bike in its tracks, riders can now safely winch through
impassable sections and ride even farther.
The WARN XT17 Portable winch weighs only 8.5 lbs. thanks to 40' of lightweight, easy-to-handle synthetic rope. Although it
doesn't weigh much, it pulls a lot-up to 1,700 lbs. Rigging is easy, too; just use the included strap and find a suitable
anchor. Next, plug the winch into the vehicle's 12V power supply, and begin winching. Like other WARN Powersports
winches, the XT17 Portable is equipped with a reliable, fast three-stage planetary geartrain, a powerful motor, a patented
load-holding disc brake, and durable controls. The XT17 Portable is also covered by the WARN Limited Lifetime Warranty.
The XT17 Portable can be had with the controls on the winch, or controls on the vehicle-whichever application best suits
user's vehicle recovery needs.
In addition to the XT17 Portable, Warn Industries also offers the WARN RT15 Portable as part of the company's Rugged
Terrain winch series. The RT15 Portable is well suited to utility use, thanks to 25' of durable wire rope, a 1,500 lb. pulling
capacity, and easy-to-use controls. This winch has the same mechanical features as the XT17 Portable.
