Press Release: Warn Offers Unimog Winch System

Warn Offers Specially Designed Unimog Winch System

Clackamas, OR (November 3, 2003) Warn Industries now provides a winch solution for the unique Unimog U-400 & U-500 models that combines a powerful industrial-grade hydraulic Winch with a specially designed system allowing for front as well as rear winching.

The Warn Unimog kit features the company's new Series 15 Industrial Hydraulic Winch, the highest capacity winch in the hydraulic class. The Series 15 is built on a 5.0 cubic inch motor that delivers 15,000 lbs. (6818 kgs) of pulling power. Top performance also results from a 2-stage planetary gear train with a 36:1 reduction, a heavy-duty automatic disc brake and locking clutch lever, and a 4-in. (102 mm) steel drum that provides excellent durability for the wire rope.

To take specific advantage of the Unimog's design, the Series 15 provides a unique versatile mounting system that attaches to the vehicle's existing implement mounts and circuitry-front and rear. Also, the winch's hose ends are quick connect plugs that attach quickly to the Unimog's existing hydraulic ports.

Warn makes winching easier by including a 20-ft. extension to the Unimog's factory-installed implement control. This allows the operator to position himself conveniently in front or back of the vehicle during winching operations. Also included are 80-ft. (24.4m) of 1/2-in. (12.7mm) EIPS wire rope, winch hook, roller fairlead and all necessary mounting hardware. The Warn Unimog winch solution is compliant with SAE J706 and CE standards.
