IFWDA Trail & Camp Rendezvous: A great event and a great cause
Written: September 20, 2011
There are a lot of great events out there that benefit some great causes. One of them was the 17th annual IFWDA
(Indiana 4WD Association) Trail & Camp Rendezvous, August 5-7 in French Lick, Indiana. WARN donated an XD9000i winch
to the raffle, and part of the raffle's proceeds go to Camp Riley
, a summer camp for kids with physical disabilities, which is part of Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. Various 4WD clubs in Indiana are working towards a goal of raising $50,000 to help implement a "low-rope" obstacle course for the children unable to use the higher portions of the obstacle course.
The winner of the XD9000i was John Sauter, pictured above. John owns a 1950 Willys CJ3A. It was one of several flatfenders at the event. John said a winch was something that he had hoped to purchase someday.
"When I registered Friday for the outing, I saw the winch raffle," he said. "When I came in for supper, I made my purchase of an arm's-length of raffle tickets for $20. I thought, odds are, I just donated to the IFWDA. That would have been OK though, as they are doing so much for advancing off-roading in Indiana." To John's surprise, he won!
"Thanks Warn for the donation and all you do for off roading," John said.
And thank you, John, for your enthusiasm, and thanks to Scott Sperling and the IFWDA for a great event.
