WARN ZEON XD vs ZEON XP Comparison: What’s the Same, What’s Different
The WARN ZEON XD and ZEON XP are taking the brand's premium winches to new heights. Both units offer more performance, added features, and rock-solid reliability and durability, giving you what you need and want in a winch. While ZEON XD and ZEON XP may look similar, they're not the same. So, what's the same and what's different? Let's take a look as we compare the WARN ZEON XD vs the ZEON XP.
Same Winch Family, Different Features
Both winches are built on the same winch architecture, and are available in 10,000 lb., 12,000 lb., and 14,000 lb. capacities. They have the same foundational components, such as the winch drum, drum supports, and motors.
The winches are all designed, engineered, tested, and assembled in house at our 180,000 sq./ft. facility in Clackamas, Oregon USA. Here, we have people on the shop floor cutting these winches' gears, building the brakes, and much more. We also have an assembly line staffed with American workers putting these winches together ensuring they're the best in the world. Here, both winch types undergo extensive testing to ensure they have never-before-seen levels of reliability and durability too.

ZEON XD: The Premium Benchmark
ZEON XD retains many core features buyers loved about the original ZEON series, which debuted in 2012. This includes a smooth and efficient three-stage planetary geartrain, multi-segment cone brake, easy-to-use clutch handle, Albright contactor control, a one-piece drum with a super-solid thru-drum rope mount, and a rugged style. In fact, ZEON XD has already won accolades: it won the Best New Off-Road/4WD Product New Product Award at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
ZEON XD improves upon the previous ZEON, however. It's now offered in 10K, 12K, and higher 14K capacity, includes premium Spydura synthetic rope with a forged hook, and new OEM-grade fasteners to better resist corrosion. ZEON XD also includes a premium black forged hawse fairlead, standard. When ZEON XD debuted in June of 2024, we told you about all about its upgrades and how it compared to our VR EVO.
From a performance perspective, ZEON XD has fast no-line speeds of up to 40 ft./min. The ZEON XD 10-S includes 100' of 3/8" Sypdura synthetic rope; ZEON XD 12-S and XD 14-S have 80' of 3/8" Spydura Pro rope. These winches also get upgraded waterproofing to meet IP68 and IP69K levels, complete with new rubber O-ring sealing to keep water out and even withstand pressure washing. This is just one way we ensure extra reliability.
All ZEON XD winches include reliable Albright contactor control and include a durable IP68 waterproof corded remote with 12 ft. lead, as well as an included WARN HUB Wireless Receiver. The HUB dongle plugs into the winch allowing you to operate the unit remotely from 100 ft. away or more using the Bluetooth connection on your smartphone and the WARN HUB app, available free for Android or iOS. It will also display your rig's battery level.
Reliability, performance, and durability—this winch has it in spades. So what about the ZEON XP?

ZEON XP: Added Control, More Features
The ZEON XP, which debuted in November of 2024, takes the reliability, performance, and durability of the ZEON XD and adds added control and user feedback to make this our top-of-the-line winch. This helps users recover their rigs with the utmost of ease and confidence, keeping users better informed than ever before. The ZEON XP is the easy-to-use, no-compromise winch for those who need the absolute best.

Ease of use and user feedback is at the core of ZEON XP. This starts with winch controls. Included is a corded remote with a 12 ft. lead and a color-changing LED which presents winch load and winch motor temperature feedback. This helps to keep you informed during the winching process. In addition, you can put the winch drum in free spool by simply pressing a button on the remote, disengaging the clutch, saving time and effort.

ZEON XP also includes premium Spydura synthetic rope across the lineup. But XP gets a black forged Epic Hook that's E-coat/powder coated for maximum protection against wear and abrasion and features a beefier gate, a deeper-thanstandard throat (can handle larger shackles).
ZEON XP also includes an integrated HUB Wireless Receiver built into the control box housing. This means, unlike ZEON XD, there's no separate dongle if you'd like to operate the winch with your smartphone. Using HUB with ZEON XP means you'll get additional info on your phone including motor temperature, load information, and your vehicle's battery level, all on brilliant, easy-to-read gauges right on your phone's screen. You can also engage and disengage ZEON XP's remote clutch.
Remote Clutch
The ZEON XP includes a remote clutch, so you can engage and disengage the winch with either the corded remote or the HUB Wireless Receiver. This helps to save time and energy while winching. If you're thinking—hey, the old ZEON Platinum had this—you're right. But there's a big change: Unlike the previous ZEON Platinum, the ZEON XP also has a manual clutch handle. This gives users the option of how they'd like to use the winch. Who doesn't love choices?

ZEON XP Includes Dynamic LED Lighting
Another thing setting ZEON XP apart from the ZEON XD? Dynamic LED lighting. Here, LED lights mounted near the drum and on the control pack change colors depending on what's going on during the winching scenario. Excellent in low light, these different colors help to keep you informed during the winching process.

For example, if the LEDs turn red, it means you're working the winch too hard, and you should pause the process. Having this info lets you use all the winch's power without worry about whether you're going to damage it. The winch will let you know when it's reached its limits. This will also help to extend its service life since you won't break it.
ZEON XD vs ZEON XP: Same Great Warranty, Reliability, Durability, and Performance
No matter if you select the ZEON XD or you opt for the ZEON XP, you're going to get the same industry-leading warranty: limited-lifetime mechanical and seven-year electrical.
